Gold and silver prices rose on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday, August 5, 2024. On the MCX, gold futures with a maturity date of October 4, 2024, were trading at Rs 70,412 per 10 grams, up Rs 623 or 0.89 percent. At Rs 69,789, the previous closure was noted.

In the meantime, silver futures maturing on September 5, 2024, rose by Rs 851, or 1.03 percent, to Rs 83,344 a kg on the MCX, up from Rs 82,493 at the previous close.

Gold and silver prices in major cities

New Delhi: In New Delhi, 22-carat gold costs Rs 6,485 per gram. The price of silver in the capital city is Rs 85,700 per kilogram.

Mumbai: 22-carat gold costs Rs 6,470 per gram in Mumbai. Similar to New Delhi, the cost of one kilogram of silver in Mumbai is Rs 85,700.

Kolkata: 22-carat gold costs the same in Kolkata as it does in Mumbai: Rs 6,470 per gram. The cost of a kilogram of silver in Kolkata is the same as it is in Mumbai and New Delhi: Rs 86,600.

Chennai: In Chennai, 22-carat gold costs Rs 6,470 per gram. The price of silver is Rs 91,100 per kilogram.
