Gold and silver prices increased on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Gold futures maturing on August 5, 2024, were at Rs 74,438 per 10 grams on the MCX, up Rs 301, or 0.41 percent. The previous close stood at Rs 74,137.
In the meantime, silver futures maturing on September 5, 2024 rose by Rs 434 or 0.47 percent to Rs 92,376 per kg on the MCX, up from the previous close of Rs 91,942.
Gold and silver prices in major cities
New Delhi: In New Delhi, the price of 22-carat gold is Rs 6,891 per gram. The silver price in the capital city is Rs 96,100 per kilogram.
Mumbai: In New Mumbai, the price of 22-carat gold is Rs 6,876 per gram. Silver in Mumbai is trading at Rs 96,100 per kilogram, matching the price in New Delhi.
Kolkata: In Kolkata, 22-carat gold is priced identically to Mumbai at Rs 6,876 per gram. The silver price in Kolkata is also the same as in Mumbai and New Delhi, at Rs 96,100 per kilogram.
Chennai: Chennai shows the highest gold price among the four cities, with 22-carat gold costing Rs 6,921 per gram. The southern city also has the highest silver price, with the precious metal trading at Rs 1,00,600 per kilogram.
