New India Assurance share witness positive trading day as PSU insurer appoints new CMD

After the PSU insurer announced that Girija Subramanian had been appointed as the company’s chairperson and managing director (MD), NIACL’s stocks increased by 5%.

As of 11:16 am, the New India Assurance shares were trading 3.88% at Rs 247.33.

According to NIACL’s regulatory filing, Girija Subramanian is a statistics bachelor’s degree holder, a fellow member of the Insurance Institute of India, and an associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London.

In 1988, the industry veteran began her career as the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) as a Direct Recruit Officer.

“In a career spanning 34 years, she worked in reinsurance departments across various lines of business, the most prominent ones being Aviation, Life, Health, and Property classes,” NIACL said, stating that she was the CMD of AIC of India before taking over as CMD of New India Assurance.
