The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) saw an increase in the price of silver and gold on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

On the MCX, gold futures with a maturity date of October 4, 2024, were trading at Rs 70,005 per 10 grams after seeing a 0.50 percent or Rs 350 increase. The previous close was recorded at Rs 69,655.

In the meantime, silver futures maturing on September 5, 2024, rose by Rs 385 (0.46 percent) to Rs 83,981 per kg on the MCX, up from Rs 83,596 at the previous close.

Gold and silver prices in major cities

New Delhi: In New Delhi, 22-carat gold costs Rs 6,416 per gram. The price of silver in the capital city is Rs 86,600 per kilogram.

Mumbai: In Mumbai, 22-carat gold costs Rs 6,401 per gram. The price of silver in Mumbai is Rs 86,600 per kilogram, which is the same as in New Delhi.

Kolkata: 22-carat gold costs the same in Kolkata as it does in Mumbai: Rs 6,401 per gram. The silver price in Kolkata is the same as in Mumbai and New Delhi: Rs 86,600 per kilogram.

Chennai: Chennai shows the highest gold price among the four cities, with 22-carat gold costing Rs 6,421 per gram. The southern city also has the highest silver price, with the precious metal trading at Rs 91,100 per kilogram.
